Dr. Kyriaki Noussia

 

Dr. Kyriaki Noussia is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Law, University of Exeter. A Greek Barrister, she secured her LLB from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 1994, LLM in International Trade Law from the University of Essex in 1997 and PhD in Marine Insurance Law from the University of Southampton in 2003.

She possesses extensive professional experience, having worked as a Trainee Lawyer with Exarchakos Law Offices from 1994-1996, as a Stagiaire with the European Commission in 1999 and as a Counsel at Lex Arb Law Offices from 2011-2015.

She is a recipient of the prestigious Alexander Van Humboldt Fellowship of the Max Planck Institute of Comparative and Private International Law and also received a Fulbright Award in order to pursue a research project at the Columbia University.

She has previously taught from 2004-2007 at the University of Birmingham and has been Visiting Research Fellow at the Universite De Nantes and a Guest Researcher at the University of Melbourne, University of Oslo and University of Queensland. She is also a member of the Society of Legal Scholars and the British Maritime Law Association and is the former Vice President (Europe) of the International Insurance Law Association.

A scholar par excellence, she is also known as the author of the books “Confidentiality in International Commercial Arbitration” and “Reinsurance Arbitrations”, published by Springer. She has also written for Brill’s Ocean Yearbook Online, the Journal of International Arbitration and the Global Arbitration Review.

She possesses 25 years of combined experience as a Professor, Negotiator, Mediator, Arbitrator and Barrister and has worked with students and leading companies on Energy Law, International Commercial Arbitration, Environmental Law, Shipping Law and Insurance Law.
