Mr. Akshay Malhotra 

Mr. Malhotra is a partner in the Energy, Infrastructure & Resources practice group of Khaitan & Co. With over 11 years of experience, he has represented government authorities, sponsors, contractors, and lenders engaged in the context of project development, financing, M&A, and dispute resolution with emphasis on public-private partnerships. He has been on secondment to some of the largest Oil & Gas as well as renewable energy companies in India. Akshay has also worked on international projects in Bhutan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Mozambique, and the Philippines.

His practice focuses on advising clients on project development (public procurement, risk analysis, and mitigation, offtake and development contracts), and implementation. His sectoral expertise lies in energy, power (conventional and renewable), transportation (roads and highways, airports, ports, railways, and metro rail), social infrastructure (healthcare and education), and defence procurement.

He is a law graduate from Symbiosis Law School, Pune, and has been recommended for Projects & Energy by Legal500 and ranked as a ‘Rising Star’ for Project Development by IFLR1000.

Prior to joining Khaitan & Co, Akshay was a Partner at HSA Advocates and has previously worked with the projects and infrastructure practice at Luthra & Luthra and Trilegal.
